About Financial Forensics

  Financial Forensics was founded by Tom Gottschalk, a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner:

  • Criminal Investigator - Johnson County DIstrict Attorney - 16 years
  • Special Agent - Kansas Attorney General Criminal Division - 2 years     
  • Fraud / Public Corruption division - Ernst & Young
  • Certified in Reid Interview and Interrogation techniques, including advanced certification
  • Trained in forensic interviews of elder abuse victims
  • Develped and implemented public corruption investigation standards at the Johnson County District Attorney
  • Implemented FAST team approach for investigating elder abuse cases for the Johnson County District Attorney (Financial Abuse Specialist Team)
  • Represented the Kansas Attorney General in IRS Tax Fraud Task Force
  • Represented Johnson County District Attorney in US Department of Justice Elder Justice Task Force
  • Assigned to IRS regional Anti Money Laundering (AML) task force by Kansas Attorney General and Johnson County District Attorney
  • Versed in cell phone forensics, and the use of Call Detail Records (CDR's) in criminal investigations
  • Course instructor for elder abuse investigations at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center
  • Course instructor for financial crimes investigations at Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy
  • Trained in assessing child and juvenile interviews for sexual abuse
